Nigeria – Nasarawa state Government says it remains resolute in its avowed commitment to alleviate poverty in the state.
Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe stated this today while flagging off the distribution of six thousand bags of rice to widows and other vulnerable groups across the state.
The state Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe while acknowledging the receipt of 6000 25kg bags of rice donated by the Baba Buhari for All, described the gesture as commendable, saying it will go a long way in complementing government’s efforts at ameliorating the sufferings of the downtrodden.
Dr. Akabe assured of proper monitoring of the distribution exercise from the state to the polling units at ward levels, calling on Chairmen of local councils to ensure the items do not reach the hands of people with source of income but the underprivileged.
According to him, heads of the distribution committee will be held responsible for any anomaly experienced in the exercise, adding that government will continue to do the needful to cushion the hardship being faced by widows and other vulnerable groups in the state.
Leader of the Baba Buhari For All in Nasarawa state who is the member representing Nasarawa-Toto federal constituency at the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Mohammed Ari said the group which was formed by allies and supporters of President Muhammadu Buhari had extensive deliberation and agreed on the most appropriate modality for distributing the items under the supervision of commissioners.
Also speaking, National Coordinator of the organization, Aminu Jaji ably represented by Professor Mohammed Shinkafi who affirmed that members were moved by the plight of widows in the country thus, leading to its formation, expressed their determination to extend their benovelence to all states of the Federation.
Professor Shinkafi also said their empowerment programme will soon include agric intervention for the less previlaged so as to alleviate their sufferings.
