Nigeria – Anambra State Police Commissioner, CPS Chris Owolabi, says it recorded a 95 percent success rate on the counter-offensive against armed hoodlums who attacked the state office of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the B, Division of the command in the state.

Attackers suspected to be unknown gunmen had invaded both INEC and B, Division command offices, Awka, last Sunday night, burning sections of the buildings.

Briefing newsmen, CPS Owolabi said his men were able to repel the hoodlums who came with four Hilux jeeps loaded with arms.

He said they recovered 3 Hilux jeeps, various assault rifles and ammunition from the hoodlums, stating that the investigation was ongoing to fish out the perpetrators.

He, then, appealed for public support to enable them to discharge their duties effectively.

The Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr Nkwachukwu Orji, said the collation centre, store section and six utility vehicles were burnt down by the hoodlums.

He told newsmen that the position of its headquarters would determine whether or not the development would affect the November 6th, 2021 gubernatorial polls in the state.
